TIME OUT New York Oct 12-19 2000

PREVIEW: Dan Bryk + Chris Mills + Amy Correia
Fez Wed 18, 2000

It's easy to see why Fountains of Wayne's Chris Collingwood is a fan of Dan Bryk's new record, Lovers Leap. Just like that band's Utopia Parkway, Leap is a record that celebrates suburbia circa 1982. With Mark Turmell V2.0, Bryk creates the audio companion to an episode of the now-defunct coming of age show Freaks and Geeks, singing about the virtues of Apple II Computers and riding bikes through streets lined with tract houses. His fragile voice also suggests that in many ways the singer is still feeling the wonders and wounds of those heady, hormonally-charged years.
