Sometimes a voice mail message says it all.

"Hey, Kim. It's Dan Bryk calling. Listen, I have a show Wednesday (October 13). Unfortunately, my record isn't out until the new year. But anyway, I'm playing under the name 'The Dan Bryk' along with Swinghammer, Maury LaFoy and Jeff MacPherson (of pure-pop titans the Supers), and if you're in the mood to say anything nice about that show, that's be really cool."

OK. The gig is slated for the Rivoli, and singer/songwriter Bryk is a comer whose smart, esoteric pop is worth a listen.

He's also funny as hell, so try to chat him up if you can.
